Is Direct Sales Right For You?
Some people just fit the bill perfectly for the direct sales business model because of its ability to offer lucrative income without risks. However before jumping into this business model, ask yourself the following questions to see if it will suit you:
1) Have you always enjoyed selling things, mainly at home parties? Enjoying selling will help you become a better networker which will enable you to meet many new people to pitch your products too. But a word of caution here is needed because not everyone enjoys making cold calls.
2) Figure out whether or not money motivates you because finding new customers at first isn't going to be easy for you and to get you through these lean times you are really going to have to be motivated to do so.
3) Do you think you would work well with people working in your down line? If you can answer yes to this question you'll be setting yourself up to earn commissions when the people working underneath make sales.
4) How much do you think you would enjoy marketing your business and the products you will be representing? It will take a lot of work to get the word out about your business. Which could mean anything from handing out pamphlets to your neighbors to posting an ad to your friends on Facebook. The more you love marketing the better chance you will have at becoming successful in direct sales.
5) Are you going to be able to keep yourself organized as far as tracking your sales and commissions? Knowing what your numbers are and how much commissions you are owed will definitely be something you want to become very proficient with.
6) Are you a positive minded person? Making money in direct sales is sometimes pretty tough to do so having a positive mindset will definitely help you get through the tough times where it looks like nothing is going right for your business.
7) The most important thing is to see if you have good communications skills and whether you are able to communicate your thoughts lucidly. You will also need to understand what the customer wants and anticipate their questions.
If you are confident of the above, then direct sales business will be a good option for you.
