Should We Put The MyShoppingGenie Back In The Bottle?
It seems everywhere I go I am being accosted by people trying to get me to download and install this ShoppingGenie software which apparently is supposed to save me money. I supposed I should be touched that so many people are concerned with my financial well-being!
In fact, I think I have suddenly heard from at least 5 'long last' friends in the last 2 weeks looking to help me save money with this MyMarketingGenie download! Given that I like to keep up with what is happening online I thought I would check out it what the fuss is all about and get some hard facts.
So here the salient facts..
MyShoppingGenie is supplied by a company with vision. And that vision is to get the software on all the computers in the world. Grand vision indeed - I think they stole it from Microsoft though but cant fault them for aiming big. The company is MyNetUniverse and they have been operating since 2007.
Great vision indeed and so you would expect that, given a network marketing model is being employed to market their products, their management team would have extensive network marketing experience. That said this doesn't appear to be case, except for their CEO. Most of the team appear to have a purely corporate back ground only.
You have to give it to them though as they have been going 3 years and have made it past the 2 year mark which sees most MLM companies hit the wall. So they must be doing certain things well.
What about the product? Well it certainly is refreshingly simple enough. It consists of a piece of software that you download to your computer which seamlessly integrates with your web browser and search engines. When you search for a product it scours the Internet for all the sites that are selling this said product. It then returns to you the best prices available and displays this in your browser.
So it can save you time and money and given its free it is probably a no-brainer to download and try it out.
So why are so many people so keen to get me this software? Well it is a network marketed product which means every person handing out this software is a distributor for the company. This means they are keen to give you their copy as they will benefit down the line when you start using it to search and buy products. Out of the gates they start receiving $1 each time you complete 3 searches online.
The other income streams include the enrolling of other distributors from which they earn a commission as well as benefiting when you purchase a product through one of their affiliate or recommended sellers. They then get paid an affiliate commission for that as well.
What does it cost to be a distributor? MyShoppingGenie is reasonably priced, you have an initial $199 licence fee to become a distributor and be allowed able to hand out the software and you then have a monthly maintenance amount of $29.
Also provided in this pricing is the standard network marketing offerings such as replicated websites, capture pages, banners and promotional material. Training is usually also provided and I would be surprised if that was not the case here too,
There is one important thing to consider though..
Downloading MyShoppingGenie is a simple enough job and it makes sense to do so if its going to give you savings and save you time locating the best prices.
Creating a business of of this product though is another matter all together. Network marketing can be a lucrative opportunity and so can this product and company, IF you have a proper marketing system which ensures a continuous flow of prospects.
The last thing you should be building your business on is the idea that all you have to do to be successful is speak to your family and friends and get them the software.
Some people, those with large personalities and large circle of friends and family, can get this method to work for them.
However for most people, and I am talking about the 70% of people just don't have this setup and so getting leads, without joining the NFL club (The No Friends Left Club), is paramount to creating a successful business. There are only so many people in your circle that you will be able to hand out this free software to before a certain saturation level is reached and so you need to get this critical point.
Some people I have heard saying that it is an easy business as all you need to do is hand out free software however this wont make you successful as you need to enroll other distributors to really get things moving. Without a proper plan to do this, a marketing system to get you leads, and then converting these leads into distributors, your chance of making money is blown out of the water before you even start.
So to summarise - from what I have looked at, the product looks good and useful. The opportunity also looks good as it is promoting a good service and money can be made from this, as with any network marketing opportunity, if you set yourself up in the right way, with the right systems. Dont be surprised though if you dont hear this from your up-line though - they may well not know how to do this either.
