When Amway Global was first started back in 1959, the founders never envisioned that in the 21st century it would be one of the largest private companies in the entire world. With Amway Global's ups and downs over the years, no one ever complained about the products. Some of its largest detractors happened to be some of their best customers. Their beauty line, although not a household name and not advertised in major publications, is thought of as serious and direct competition to other world leaders in skin care such as Loreal and Estee Lauder.
One of the major problems has always been their training. New recruits were given their kits and wished luck. They were invited to meetings and rallies, but uplines were never encouraged nor trained in how to teach new recruits to be successful. The drop out and failure rate was high. Without training, people would give up and quit within a few months.
Another problem they needed to deal with was their assumption that new recruits were always broke, and their dream was to drive a Cadillac. They didn't know how to deal with people who were actually very well off, sometimes better off than the people recruiting them into the business! Many people complained that when they showed up at various rallies and get togethers in a Mercedes or BMW, the valets had no clue what to do with them! If they weren't driving a Caddy, they were herded into a general parking area with the Chevys and Fords.
Soon, people rebelled against the idea that only poor individuals wanted to get involved in something like this, and the Mercedes owners tired of being sent off with the Ford Tauruses and Dodge sedans. Things quickly changed!
