How To Kill The ‘I Don’t Have Enough Money Objection’ With Magnetic Sponsoring
Yesterday I was reviewing my team in my primary business with my upline. We were identifying those who were action takers and who I was going to spend my personal time with. I have one lady on my team who I love and want to spend time, however, my upline pointed out that she hadn't produced a whole lot. In speaking with this team member, she has been frustrated with the amount of people who have told her they don't have the money to get started with the business.
During our conversation, we both agreed that neither one of us EVER gets that objection. Never. However, that said, we also both realize that the lack of money is the #1 objection most network marketers encounter.
As we journey down the network marketing road, we hear from all directions the importance of mindset has in our success. We go to company meetings and our CEO's talk about it, Oprah talks about it, heck, even our uplines talk about it. That said, I have come to realize in my six years as a network marketer that there is absolute truth in this. I truly believe that mindset separates the good from the great!
When prospects ask the 'cost' of getting started, that is a red flag to warn us of the 'scarcity' mindset this person has. We must identify this mindset and ask questions to determine the likelihood of shifting this person's mindset. Without that shift, the idea that this person could be a successful entrepreneur would be unfair. Without a shift to an abundant mindset, this person is doomed to eventually revert back to a life of employment pretty quickly.
The flipside to this example are the abundant thinkers. Those who ask the 'investment' needed to get started. They, in turn, will attract those like them. This is why those with a 'scarcity' mentality attract people who immediately ask what the 'cost' is. This is the exact idea that Mike Dillard teaches in 'Magnetic Sponsoring.' Like minds attract similar minds!
The 'cost' of a business vs. the 'investment' into a business comes right down to mindset. The shift from a 'scarcity' mentality to an 'abundant' mentality will only come through self-development. The Network Marketing ‘Head’ Game
As I have mentioned, I am taking David Wood's challenge to write 100 articles in 100 days. As I sat down today to write mine, I wasn't sure what my topic would be. As I started to write, it just poured out. I had a pretty life-changing personal event almost two years ago happen that significantly changed what would be my network marketing career. I ask you to let me get personal so you can see where I'm going with this.
I'll start with when left my full-time job with a network marketing company. I started my own MLM business and was convinced in 6 months I would be earning $100K/month and building a worldwide organization! That couldn't be further from what happened. You see, I had spent over 5 years teaching network marketers how to build their businesses. How, without any experience myself? By reading books, learning the industry and then telling others how to do it. When you're an employee, there is not motivation to practice the skills yourself, really because, no matter what you do and implement, you're still getting that SAME check at the end of the month. I had to practice and implement these skills that I had talked about, but never implemented.
That said, at the point I started my business, I had already been working on my self-development, so I was in a good place mentally, but just not skilled yet. In my times of challenge, I'd sit down and look for answers. I still continued, however, to attend networking groups and got involved in recreational groups to expand my network. In one of my networking groups, I met another network marketer whom I had a lot in common with. We would have dinner and mastermind together. One day, she invited me to San Diego to a seminar her business coach, Jeffrey Combs, was hosting.
I wasn't sure who Jeffrey Combs was, but if my friend Judith wanted me to meet him, I felt like I should. I drove to San Diego and that day was a defining moment in my life. I hired Jeffrey as my coach and part of my program was a 2 1/2 day seminar with Jeffrey entitled, 'Breakthroughs to Success.'
That seminar was life-changing in to many ways. It was the first time I had experienced such life-changing knowledge. Not concepts or techniques, but knowledge about myself and what was REALLY holding me back. It couldn't have happened at a more perfect time. That year, I had had some very impactful hurdles hit my life. These hurdles rocked my world and threw my life upside down. I had a bad experience and I was trying to figure out why. What I didn't realize at the time that I know now was that bad experience set into motion some of the most positive things that have come to me in my life.
How did this happen? How did a horrible life experience land me in one of the best places I've ever been? When my life was turned upside down, I had to really delve into what got me there. I realized that decisions I had made, and the emotions left over from past life-events had gotten me there. I had created this situation, but what I realized was that I had the power to create this situation, but I also had the power to create future, positive situations. I now understood the power of our thoughts, our actions and our results!
So, from this realization, I understood how powerful the mind can be. I learned how to forgive, to move on from this life-lesson, and turn the rest of my life into MY life by controlling my thoughts, which lead to my actions. I had an opportunity for years to uproot my life and move out West, but didn't do it FOR other people. Two months after this life experience, I was packing up my family and moving, ultimately for everyone, but really for ME. Six months after that, I flat out quit the job that had become such a negative monkey on my back. I made major decisions to CONTROL my life rather than letting the, 'What if' scenario get in the way...i.e. 'What if I move to California and don't like it?' 'What if I leave this stable job and can't make it work as a Network Marketing Professional?' 'What if.....'
I decided to let the 'What if's' go their own way and knew that I controlled my destiny. When I truly believed leaving for California was the right thing, there would be no 'What if' scenario! When I truly believed in myself to build a network marketing career, I would FIND the correct path. And I have!
I am still working towards my goals. I've reached some and still have ones that I have yet to check off the list. That said, what has been so inspiring is that when I have met a challenge, I believe the solution will appear and it always does. It's been so amazing to see this all work and its inspiring. My wish is that EVERYONE will realize this power and change their lives for the positive, but I know most one. That is the sad reality!
My life has changed so drastically in 2 years. I see this future that is something that few will ever experience. Their head will get in the way. My purpose now is to only attract those people who 'get it.' Why? Because these are the ones that will stick it out. Will do whatever it takes. They may not be instant success stories, but they won't suck me dry by trying to convince me the business doesn't work. I want positive, big thinkers, certainly not negative 'nellies.' If you are a big thinker and someone who realizes they control their life, I'd love to connect offline. I want to surround myself with people like this. It's so healthy and so inspiring. These are the like-minded people I want to be around. Not just people who like network marketing, but people who realize they control their destiny in network marketing. You never know where these relationships could lead! For thinkers like me, partnering with someone like me is powerful!

What To Do When You're Given a Pink Slip
Almost two months ago, my husband came home and told me a very good friend of ours had been laid off. It was shocking to us. He had been at the company for almost 15 years, was a 6-figure earner, his wife is a stay-at-home mom, and he is the sole provider for their family!
To follow that story, I have another friend who had just gotten out of the Army a year ago. He served in Iraq, but could not find a job for a year. A couple of months ago, he finally accepted a civilian job in Iraq and is away from his baby three months at a time.
You hear these stories all too often! Every time I hear one more of these sad stories, I am SO grateful to have found my profession of network marketing. I couldn't be happier with it. Yes I work my butt off in learning the skills it takes to find the ridiculous success I've set out to achieve. The more I learn, the more I earn! Yes, I get frustrated. Yes, there are days when I want to quit, but I can't and won't. Yes, I have to sacrifice some time with my kids here and there. What does that all sound like? A job, right!!!???
To a certain degree. The 3% of successful network marketers who are earning a very comfortable living will NEVER tell you it was so easy. They will tell you they sacrificed time IN THE BEGINNING with family, they will tell you they spent time & money figuring out the skills IN THE BEGINNING, they will tell you they wanted to quit sometimes IN THE BEGINNING. See where I'm going with this? This is not a JOB! It's a gift that someone gave to us and so few of us choose to WORK at it.
Some think its a golden ticket and wait for a pile of money to be handed to them on a silver platter. While others think it is a gift, however, that gift has to be unwrapped gently, opened up carefully, and then the gift has to be put together, reading instructions, drilling in screws, putting on wheels, and then, voila! You hit the 'ON' button and the gift is roaring forward!
Why the difference in thinking? The same happens in the work force. Why do some people stay for YEARS as a mail room clerk and some scoop up the promotions almost as quickly as they appear on the job board? Because the ones scooping up the promotions are the ones that WORK for it. They learn new skills, they work late, they stay in front of the important people who can teach them, they put in the time!
The dedication for a job is the same for a network marketing business. It's everyday commitment to show up, its continuing to self-develop to learn more skills, however, the rewards are FAR greater! 'Working' a network marketing business is a 5 year commitment, whereas, working a job is a 40 year commitment. Oh, and by the way, at the end of your 5 years as a network marketer, you can retire and at the end of your job commitment, you're broke! Geez! Why don't more people get this??
So, to tie up my beginning stories, I sent my two friends the business overview for my company with both their permission. Neither even watched a minute of it, however, both said, 'No thanks, Vidette. I think I'll hold out for something more stable,' I kept with the professional high-road and wished them both good luck, but I was itching to scream at them, 'You were given a day's notice that you no longer had a way to support your family and you think that is stable?' It's been 2 months for one friend and over a year for the other without working and a 30-minute overview couldn't be watched? Something that COULD possess the answer they were looking for? It' an option and it doesn't hurt to look. If you honestly watch it and its not a fit, then I'm cool with that. To not look is simply plain ignorance!
So, they are both in the same situation. I don't mean to knock my friends, but I just wish everyone could see that there are options. Different, but there are options. They aren't comfortable or normal, but there are legitimate options that could quickly replace a job! If you've have been handed a pink slip, know this: the world is changed and 'safe' is now the new risky! Forge ahead down a road that may not be comfortable, but don't wait for months! In a few months, you could actually be almost replacing your income. Network marketing is exploding. More millionaires will be made this year because of this industry. Most won't have the discipline to make it work, but for those who do, life will never be the same!
Those who will need a mentor and a system that will get you earning a check quickly! Be open to something different! More millionaires will be produced this year because of Network Marketing than any other industry. It's not just for stay-at-home moms having parties in the living room anymore! If you're a worker, if you've fallen on desperate times, and you are disciplined, then you are perfect for this profession! At one time or another, my decision to be a network marketer was new, scary and unknown. I dove right in and couldn't even begin to explain how different my life is in only 1 year! Burnt Out With Elur?
I had a Facebook friend call me today feeling very frustrated with her network marketing business. We all know network marketing is a roller coaster of emotions! She has been working on her building her business online and was frustrated with the lack of results. Does that sound familiar? I did to me!
Elur distributors will also feel this roller coaster, even being a newer company. First things first. Let's be VERY honest about how you have been working! Have you been making the phone calls, prospecting daily, presenting your business to prospects EVERY day? Or, have you been THINKING very hard about your business with the hopes that you would magically attract business partners because that's what you read in the 'The Secret?' I have absolutely done that...I promise! Unfortunately, I attracted no one. What I learned was that I wasn't in the right company. It was a great company, but it wasn't a fit for me. I had to find that fit, and then doing the work seemed a little bit easier! If you are THINKING a lot about your business but not working your business, you need to figure out why before you go any further! Ask yourself these questions: Do I believe in network marketing at a profession? Do I believe in my company? Do I believe I can be a successful network marketing professional? Those are the three categories that sometimes hold people back. If there is ANY lack of belief, then buddy, you are not going to find success with Elur or anything else!
So, back to the subject at hand. Burnout. Network Marketing is not hard! It's a great profession because the smartest, most successful person in one industry could be a MLM failure and a high school drop out could be an MLM top earner with Elur! Look at Randy Gage! He dropped out of school in the 8th Grade and look at his success! What separates him from people who have tried MLM, quit MLM, and swear MLM doesn't work? Diligence! He practiced diligence when many haven't and won't! What he knew, that I learned in 'The Slight Edge' by Jeff Olsen, is that small, minute daily tasks compounded over time = BIG, MASSIVE success! Small, minute tasks done one week here, one week there = ELUR failure!!
You can bed that you will have many days where you work 6 hours on your business and have NOTHING to show for it. Here is the norm in our profession: distributor talks to a few people, calls them to book and appointment, doesn't get one phone call back, does it again a day or two later, same results, quits the business thinking it doesn't work. They now have a bad taste about network marketing. Randy Gage is the biggest loser of us all! Why? Because he's met more 'no's' and more rejection than anyone! But look at his achievements! A multi-million dollar business with 100's of thousands of people in his organization. Do you think he's grateful he kept going?
Here's the fact: You will find this profession to be frustrating sometimes. Heck, it will be frustrating a lot! Realize that this is when most quit. The losers, the average, the mediocre people who go back to their job to work the daily corporate grind. The couldn't hack it. I made the decision a couple of years ago to be a champion, a winner, a successful entrepreneur. THAT's what gets me through the frustration! Which one are you? The loser or the champion. It's your choice! No one can guarantee your Elur success but YOU!!!

What Constitutes A Great Network Marketer?
After returning from a company event, I decided to share some very important qualities of a great Network Marketer. These qualities were shared by legendary network marketer, Randy Gage. If you know Randy or know OF him, you should know that when he speaks, ALL network marketers should listen. I am proud to be a member of his team and will implement all he teaches!
As we know, Great Network Marketers are Leaders. They are people others want to follow. They set the example. They do as they say. Get the point?
There are 7 qualities that define a real network marketing leader. As you read them, really pay attention as to whether or not you practice these qualities. It's o.k. if you don't yet, but learn them and implement immediately. They come from an industry legend, and those are the people we need to pay attention to! I guarantee he possesses these qualities and implements ALL. Here they are:
1. Feed Your Dream Daily - have a dream board, vision board, prosperity board, call it what you may, but have pictures of those goals you are working towards. Things you want, places you want to go, people you want to help, promotions you are working towards in your company, achievements you wish to earnyou get the point. Whatever your 'Why' is, whatever your passion is, have it on your board. Keep it in your bathroom so you look at it every morning and every night before bed. It's the first thing you see when you wake up and the last thing you see when you go to bed. If this sounds a little corny to you, well then, honey, don't read any further because I will tell you, you're not a leader. Leaders self-develop, leaders learn about success and the pathway to success. EVERY single book, CD, video, heck, every successful person on Earth will tell you, they had their goals in front of them everyday. If you refuse to do this, go back to your job and start working really hard for a raise because that is your destiny.
2. Build wide! In network marketing, we are taught to build wide and deep. In order to grow deep, we must first grow wide. We require having enough people on our team to see the ones that are destined to be leaders. As we know in this profession, there are a lot of 'talkers' out there. They come into the business telling you that they are going to be your next superstar and earn you a ton of money. They do nothing. Or they do small things for a long time but still call asking what they need to do to achieve this or that. You will have a big team of talkers, just know that going into it, but the more of a team you sponsor, you will find those GEMS in there who you identify, nurture and develop!
Quality #3: Tap Root Your Depth - You have successfully identified your All-Stars. Now it's time to teach them how to play the game. Tap rooting your depth simply means teaching your All-Stars to also identify their All-Stars. Now you and your All-Stars know who to spend time with training & developing. When this happens your team will start to duplicate this action and it will become a well-oiled machine. This will take time, consistency and duplication. It will happen with monthly coaching calls with your team so that everyone is consistently looking for their next leaders. Because of the time this will take, your compensation plan must reward you for these efforts. Your company compensation plan should reward the correct network marketing behavior which is coaching and developing your team deep into your organization!
#4 - Be Available in Prime Prospecting Times - As hard as it is to admit, the best time to reach prospects is between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is when people are home, they have put the kids to bed, and have time to talk. If you are not willing to take advantage of this, then again, be o.k. with your job. Or, you can set aside any preconceived notions, sacrifice your evenings for a year or two and enjoy the rewards! Think about Oprah, Bill Gates or Warren Buffet. Do you think they build their wealth between the hours of 9 - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday? I can probably bet they didn't. I'd imagine they worked long hours and sacrificed some family time. You think they are happy they did that? An 'employee mentality' is a handicap to our business. An 'entrepreneurial mentality' is a gift!
5. Follow Winners, Not Losers! O.K., kind of obvious, right? Wrong. How many people do you know that when you ask how they are, they give you the rundown of all that is wrong in their life. Why do we continue to see these people regularly and ask them how they are doing? It's an obvious fact to remove yourself from this person, but many don't. They feel bad and try to be the person to cheer them up. For-get it! From this day on, erase them from your life! Surround yourself with people who are enjoying life, who are exciting to talk to, who share positive experiences, who are MILLIONAIRES! Mom was right! You are who you hang out with. If you hang with people who are broker then you, either be cool with staying broke, or find some new friends! Where you ask? Figure it out - a leader would!
6. When You Feel Fear, Profess Faith - as we know, this profession is filled with fear! Fear of talking to people, fear of picking up the phone, fear of following up! Remember fear is merely 'False Evidence Appearing Real.' Its not real. Its YOUR subconscious manifesting emotional barriers that give you unrealistic feedback. So, when you feel that fear creeping up, profess faith in your skills, your confidence, your business opportunity. Have FAITH in yourself and overcome it!!
#7 - Sew the Dream - Building a culture of dreamers on your team is a golden nugget! Keep sewing the dream of your team members so they stay engaged and encouraged. This business can be a roller coaster and on the downhills, we will need our dreams to pull us through. Sometimes someone has to remind us. They can be easily forgotten during times of frustration! When you help others sew their dreams, what happens? You guessed it, your dream is sewn as well! That is the beauty of this great profession! I love it!!
Keep these 7 steps in front of you often. Put them on your dream board, commit to creating this as the culture for your team. Randy Gage is a network marketing genius.
